the bra/breast cancer correlation, or: hello, i'm a dumbass.

you may remember a little blog i wrote about the purchase of a trampoline/rebounder, in which i linked to a certain article about rebounding and breast health, in which one could find some "facts" about the correlation between breast cancer and wearing a bra. now here i am putting "facts" in quotation marks because yesterday i came across an article in the nytimes that is bent upon humiliating myself and others who heard from what they THOUGHT was a reliable source about this bra/breast cancer correlation but were actually DECEIVED and i'd rather NOT be embarrassed in that way again. i'm going to try my "best" to put quotation marks around "most things" so that this doesn't "happen" again. needless to say, it's "working."

if you don't want to read the actual article, here's the gist: there's never been a real study done on the bra/breast cancer correlation because the idea that there would be one is so patently IDIOTIC (or to quote the doctor in the article, "scientifically implausible") that such a study would be utterly LAUGHABLE, not to mention unnecessary. in other words: "fuck i am a dumbass."

turns out wikipedia isn't the worst you could do as far as reliable accuracy goes. it really sucks when ppl write misleading articles about trampolines that take advantage of those of us who very much would like to be hippies but dislike the smell of patchouli. I DON'T WANT TO SMELL LIKE PATCHOULI I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO JUSTIFY NOT WEARING A BRA is that so much to ask??
