bristol palin = profound, obvs

my favorite bristol palin quote: “I don't think it's hypocritical at all. Like, if you get lung cancer from smoking, why wouldn't you want to tell people, 'Hey, look, don't smoke.' Why wouldn't you want to be productive and share your story and do something positive with it?"

like, maybe getting pregnant and getting lung cancer are the SAME??

let's look at this scientifically:

unprotected sex = maybe baby

smoking cigarettes = maybe cancer

baby = maybe major life changes (the "maybe" is if you decide to have the baby)

cancer = maybe death

so... getting pregnant is exactly the same as getting a life-threatening disease? her baby is like, "WOOHOO I'M THE SAME AS A TUMOR!!"

then there's the other aspect of this quote, that bristol palin is actually suggesting the garbage she does promoting abstinence is doing "something positive." telling young women not to have sex because of how awful it is being pregnant/a young mother is NOT empowering, it's fear-mongering and GRADE. A. BALONEY. a young woman (and any woman, for that matter) should be able to take ownership of her sexuality and body in any way she wants.

i mean, is anyone ever actually going to figure out that abstinence only sex ed is shitty? it's out-dated, ineffective and (imo, obvs) sexually damaging. if women had more power over their own sexuality, they would get accidentally pregnant way less. TRUTH. women need sexual empowerment, not repression!! stop repressing meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

everyone should have lots of sex with whomever they want! using a condom! DO IT NOW!

Abstinence-only education has been proven ineffective TIME AND TIME again!! Why must republicans keep pushing it!? Well, I know why...but it still pisses me off.
